From 24th – 27th of April 2018 the national Civitas Prosperity training on SUMP for Romania was organised in Brasov. The main target group were the local authorities. The event combined theoretical explanations with the discussion of local examples and practical exercises. It was particularly well received motivating both, politicians and technicians, support the taking up and improvement of SUMPs and join the dedicated national network.
The participation of various guests from the Ministry of Regional Development and from the Regional Development Agencies in charge with urban mobility issues as well as high level advisers enabled fruitful exchanges between the various levels. The training has been completed with support from national and external experts and practitioners among which the representatives of 2 champion cities, Vitoria Gasteiz (Spain) and Sint Niklaas (Belgium). It has been pursued in compliance with the EU guidelines and all the materials are available in Romanian language for download. Thanks to a partnership with the Megacities Shortdocs Festival, a dedicated documentary (combining different short movies addressing various urban mobility issues) was prepared and broadcasted in a central public square, opening the technical event to the general audience through a public urban mobility evening and generating inspiring debates.
